Change of development type

Dear Interested & Affected Party (I&AP),

Reference is made to the proposed Mkhonto Office Park and Commercial Development on Portion 603 of the Farm Vaalkop & Dadelfontein No 885, Mkhambathini Municipality, for which you registered as an I&AP.

You are hereby notified that the applicant has changed the type of development, from:

  • a commercial development comprising a small convenience shopping centre and an office park, TO

  • a mixed development comprising a small convenience shopping centre and an ecotourism resort.

The proposed change in development type is based on the feedback received from I&APs in the area, specifically the repeated references to the proposed use of this area for a game reserve and the perception that the establishment of an office park was not appropriate for this property. Furthermore, concerns were raised regarding the high volumes of traffic which the office park would generate, particularly at morning and afternoon peak hours.

Please see the attachment Mkhonto EIA Phase Notification to I&APs.doc for more information
