Trustees:

There are currently 3 trustees who were members of the original Lower Mpushini Valley Conservancy Association Action committee. The Trust will be expanding their trustee base by inviting additional members in due course. All trustees are entirely voluntary, and are not paid for their services. We rely on our own inputs and those of others to survive...

Mike Jewitt
Mike Jewitt is the current Chairman and runs a variety of businesses in and around Pietermaritzburg. He recently moved to the Ashburton area. Mike is married to Debbie and they are both passionate about conservation and open spaces.
Pandora Long
Pandora has been a champion of environmental issues in the Mpushini Valley for nearly 3 decades. She and her husband Winks moved to the valley as newlyweds in 1979, and have seen remarkable changes over the last 32 years. As educator, music teacher, wife and mother Pandora seeks to preserve these last remaining wild spaces for future generations. Pandora co-ordinates PMB Eco-Schools, runs programmes for schools environmental groups, and is chairperson of the Lower Mpushini Valley Conservancy. Pandora has successfully fought for the preservation of this valley system on a number of occasions and is a key member of the team.

Francois du Toit BCom LLB Dip Proj Man

Francois du Toit is an Ashburton resident, having moved there from a small flat in Durban. He and his wife Claire, live on their smallholding with their  kids, Laura and Greg, a few horses, a few chickens, a couple of dogs, and a brace of guinea fowls in the nearby trees!

Francois has nearly a decade of experience in financial services and technical capacity building in rural development. He gained years of invaluable experience in Micro-Finance and SMME capacity building and technical assistance at the coal face, having been programme manager of USAID's US$3 Million Ntinga Micro-enterprise Support Project for the last year of his tenure there enabling him to develop a deeper understanding of the dire need for meaningful skills transfer. Francois holds a B.Com in Marketing, Economics and Business Administration, and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of Natal, Pietermaritzburg, as well as a Diploma in Project Management. Francois is sought after as a speaker and facilitator, and has successfully raised over R14 million for a variety of rural and environmental projects over the past few years.
